Keymin Terms of Use

Effective and last updated: October 8, 2026

Keymin is a macOS app for editing the configuration of the skhd hotkey daemon, published by Ilia Ross ("we"). By installing or using the App Store version of Keymin you agree to these terms and to Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement, which governs every app distributed through the App Store. Where the two differ, Apple's agreement prevails for matters it covers.

The trial and the free app

The 30-day trial starts when you first get Keymin from the App Store and includes full access. No subscription starts and nothing is charged. After the trial, Keymin shows and edits the first five bindings in your configuration file. The others remain in the file, are written back unchanged when you save, and become visible again when Pro access is restored. Modes, the blacklist, included files, and the After Saving option stay editable; the Source page needs Pro. Nothing is uploaded, moved, or deleted by the limit.

Keymin Pro

Keymin Pro restores access to every binding and to the Source page. It is sold through Apple's In-App Purchase in two forms:

Both can be shared with your family through Family Sharing where it is enabled. Prices are shown in the App Store in your local currency before you buy. Purchases, renewals, cancellations, and refunds are handled by Apple under Apple Media Services Terms; we cannot issue refunds ourselves.

skhd and skhd.zig

Keymin edits a configuration file. The hotkeys themselves are run by skhd or skhd.zig, separate projects with their own licenses that are not part of Keymin. Keymin does not include, start, or control them, and it does not run the commands in your configuration. You are responsible for the commands you put in the file and for what the daemon runs.

Acceptable use

Use Keymin lawfully and only with files you are entitled to edit. Do not attempt to circumvent purchases or reverse engineer the app beyond what the law allows.

Source code

Keymin's source is published on GitHub under the PolyForm Strict License 1.0.0 with added permissions for personal modification and contributions. You may read and inspect it, and prepare a contribution to the official repository under its contribution terms. The license does not otherwise permit distributing the source, modified copies, or binaries. The Min Tools name, the Keymin name, and the Keymin icon are not licensed with the source.

Warranty and liability

Keymin is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, to the extent permitted by law. To the same extent, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, including loss of or damage to configuration files. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have as a consumer that cannot be limited.

Changes

We may update these terms and will change the date above when we do. Material changes to Keymin Pro are announced in the app before they take effect.
